Dear Parents,
We have been doing great things lately in first grade! We have been studying nouns, verbs, and adjectives; please see the pictures below of some of our verb work, and our Halloween adjectives! We have also been working on our complete sentences, and how to start with a capital letter and end with a period.
We studied about community helpers. We had a visit recently from members of Unified Fire. We got to see the fire engine and learn about what firefighters do. They encouraged us to make a plan with our families so that if there were a fire at home, everyone would know how and where to exit and where our meeting place is. One of the firefighters also dressed up in his gear to show us what a firefighter would look like if he came in the house to find us and help us out.
We also studied about forces of motion. We got to push and pull containers of various weights and guess what was inside (it turned out to be paper, dry macaroni, and rocks). We also got to blow through straws and race ping pong balls.
Stay tuned for more great learning and activities to come!
